The greatest sight of all is the world itself.

What you have seen, experienced and touched yourself stays in your memory far better than things you have only read about. In our times, everything can be calculated and planned much more easily. Perhaps authentic travel lies precisely in the gap between the plan and reality.

The stories of other world travellers give us a hint of where an unfamiliar road might lead. Travelling is not only about choosing a destination, but much more about the joyful anticipation of opening ourselves up to the unknown. Recording our encounters, impressions and feelings is also part of our travel experience.

We often ask ourselves: is it wanderlust that needs to be satisfied, or a longing for the extraordinary? Is it the fantasy of places and people, or saying goodbye to the old and meeting the new?

Even though the age of the great conquerors and explorers is long gone, a little explorer still slumbers inside us, one who wants to see what it does not yet know.

And so we want to feel life, and give up the familiar in order to discover the unfamiliar.

Footprints fade, memories last forever.
